Week 239 Lucky Dip

August is another 5 Saturday month and so this week
we have the pleasure of inviting a

Guest Designer
to join us!

This week our Lucky Dip Challenge is to use
Sprays/Mists

As you may realise, we like to ask regular contributors to our challenges
to take the Guest Spots and we are delighted that

has accepted our invitation!

For more details on Elaine's fabulous card and how she created it
please head over to her blog HERE

And here's what the Design Team created plus there could be more
on our personal blogs .... you'll just have to head across to find out!

Here is another card using last week's sketch. The background was made with
squished flowers from the garden. I place them between two pieces of card and
run them through my old Cuttlebug. (I use my old one as a lot of juice can come out
and make a bit of a mess of the machine). I scrape off the debris and leave the card to dry.
This was then spritzed with a little Cosmic Shimmer. The butterfly is from Memory Box
and the leaves from Wplus9. The sentiment is Hero Arts.

Sarah

I started out by embossing my 'sprayed' panel with a honeycomb
embossing folder before spritzing with a mix of Distress Ink re-inker
in Picked Raspberry and Perfect Pearls which adds a great shimmer.
The black frame is die-cut using MFT Die-namics Pierced Rectangles
and the horizontal strip with Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies.
The flower head and sentiment are from a new (to me) set from Uniko:
Pure Florals - Chrysanthemum. The flower is heat embossed then water-coloured
using Zig Clear Brush pens and to finish a few pink shimmery sequins.

I started with a scrap of bright pink cardstock and laid a die cut heart,
using Love Hearts by Clearly Besotted, over the cardstock before spraying
with Cosmic Shimmer Mist in Pearl Mist.  Once dry I die cut it using
a Die-namics Pierced Square die.  To make the heart stand out
a little more I dotted around it using a silver Sakura Gelly Roll pen
to match the pierced edge and popped it up on 3D foam.
The sentiment from Clearly Besotted Love Blossoms was stamped in
Versa Color Opera Pink and a single gem added to the heart.

Anne may not manage to join us this week, as sadly, her mother died
very suddenly on Thursday last. We all send her our love and are thinking
about her at this difficult time.

We hope you enjoy our lucky dip challenge this week and can't wait to see
your creations. Please try to visit some fellow limettes to leave some
friendly feedback as we all love a comment!

ShowCASe Week 237

Morning all, it's time for us to reveal our ShowCASe choices
for the 'Congratulations' challenge and what a bumper week
of magnificent and inspirational cards to WOW us!

Here's our choices in order of entry

What a fun card!  This happy doggie is on a background that
shows how 'white space'  doesn't have to be white, it just needs
to give the main image space to be the star of the card!

 Di
This is just CAS perfection and A* outstanding!
The sentiment is fitting and funny too

A vibrant and colourful technique, restricted to a panel across
the card, looks so eye-catching and effective.

Thank you for entering and please take the ShowCASe badge
from the page at the top of the blog with our thanks!
We hope you'll display it with pride on your blogs.

Thanks to each of you for entering the challenge, we love to see
how you interpret our challenges and there's still time to enter
our sketch challenge, which ends at 10pm BST tonight and we'll
be back tomorrow with another new challenge.

Week 238 Sketch

Morning Limettes it's time for our latest challenge and we have
a sketch for you this week and let's hope you have some fun with it.

By all means flip or rotate the sketch so long as we can identify it and
as always we are looking for clean and simple with lots of  'white' space

Here's what we've come up with and we'd love you to pop over to our
personal blogs where there's more inspiration.

Anne

My one layer card uses Clarity stamps, I've extended the slope line outside the stamp with a Pigma pen.  Coloured with Copics.
I found this piece of Designer paper skulling around in my paper drawer and so have no idea where I managed to print it from! It made me think of these dies, which a very kind American buddy sent to me, as the company (Creative Time Dies) don't ship to the UK. The border is cut with a Cuttlebug die and the sentiment from Memory Box (love) and Spellbinders (part of JUST FOR 'YOU').

Using the Uniko Classic Number set I've stamped haphazardly in the 3 colours
before adding the red diagonal panel with a heat-embossed sentiment by Clearly Besotted:
Sweet Little Sentiments and the 'BOYS' is made up from the Uniko: Garlands Galore Set.
I've added a mini strip of black cardstock between the number panel and the red
just for added detail and I couldn't resist the sprinkles; I was going to stick with
3 on the left but if I hold my hand up the othersare covering a little mis-hap
with embossing powder! Grrr!

I cut a white panel of cardstock at an angle before embossing with a Stripe embossing folder by Darice.  I adhered this to the card base and also adhered a thin strip of grey cardstock along the top edge.  I stamped the Petite Petals by Stampin' Up and punched them out with the co-ordinating punch before adhering them along the grey strip with glue dots.  The sentiment, from A Little Sentimental by Clearly Besotted, was embossed in white onto some grey cardstock before cutting down and popping up on 3D foam.

We hope you have a good week and find some crafty time to join in and
if possible please stop by a few of your fellow entrants to leave some
encouraging and friendly comments.

ShowCASe Week 236

More wonderful ideas appeared for our Eyes Have It challenge and our selections are sure to inspire you!
Without further ado here they are!

one layer so good to see you card
We love the classic layout of the cute image and perfectly chosen sentiment, and the doodled frame just adds to the fun feel.

We fell for these cute seahorses and Kimberly's colouring is faultless.  The soft blue and the bubbles were perfect touches to finish it off perfectly.

Heather worked wonders with this fabulous digi, cropping and selective colouring really highlighted those fabulous eyes, perfect for our challenge.

All very different this week, but all terrific.
Please take the SHhowCASe badge from the page at the top with our appreciation and thanks

There's still a little time to join in with this week's Congratulations Challenge and do join us again tomorrow when a brand new challenge will begin!

Week 237 Theme

For our theme this week we have chosen
CONGRATULATIONS!

You could choose any reason for congratulations and there is a host to choose from... engagement,  marriage, anniversary, new baby, driving test, examinations, new job, special birthday, the list is practically endless.

Let's see what you can dream up, but do remember to keep your design
Clean & Simple

with lots of
white space, minimal layers and few embellishments.

Anita

I stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted's Baby Love set (discontinued)
onto a strip of pale pink vellum, heat embossed in white and wrapped this
around a white cardstock panel.  I then stamped the onesie and the flower logo from Clearly Besotted's Little Onesie set onto some Lawn Fawn polka dot paper
and again heat embossed in white before fussy cutting out and popping up
on 3D foam.  The panel was adhered flat to the card base and a few
silver Doodlebug Sprinkles added to accent.
Anne

A celebratory card, using Stampin' Up's fun balloon inked in Mint Macaroon
with some gold embossing, sequins, ribbon and a thin mat.

Memory Box die cuts in a Simon Says Stamp stitched frame, with a Clearly Besotted sentiment.
The panel behind the butterflies was made with Aqua Tints and some mica spray.
I couldn't find a die to match the size of the middle butterfly in this, so that one is a tad
too small for the aperture, but I still like the effect.

I started out by inking the whale and sentiment from Paper Smooches
Briny Blue and 'You Did It' from Clearly Besotted - Let's Roll using
Versafine Black ink before heat embossing with clear embossing powder.
Using Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass
I've watercoloured the background allowing the colours to merge slightly before
spritzing water splashes on it. The shaker frame is made with an MFT Die-namics
Stitched Square Die and filled with beads and sequins from my stash.

There's more inspiration on our personal blogs and we all love a visit; also
please try to visit some of your fellow limettes to leave some encouraging feedback.
We hope you enjoy the challenge and have a fun week!

Hello ... are we ready for another ShowCASe?

It's time for us to reveal our favourites for the Berry-licious Shades colour challenge!
Your creations were all simply scrumptious making it ultra difficult for us!

So in order of entry here goes ...

We were in awe at Elaine's inking on this card and how she created such depth of colour!
Perfect stamping and fabulous berry shades!

A super clever mix of berry shades using Brushos here
and teamed with the elegant border and fun die-cut sentiment!

The sheer perfection of those roses coloured in striking berry shades
had us swooning over TaeEun's card. Stunning and gorgeous on kraft card!

Thanks so much for entering and please take the ShowCASe badge
from the page at the top of the blog with our thanks!

Week 236 One Layer

For our
One Layer Card
This month we have the title
The Eyes Have it!

So your card this week should have eyes on it somewhere.
Please remember that we LOVE to see WHITE SPACE as part of your design and NO other layers, with minimal embellishments (if any).

Here are our examples to give you a few ideas!

Sarah
One-eyed monster crazy here!
Using: Lawn Fawn: Monster Mash coloured using
Zig Clear Brush Pens, with added white dots using a gel pen
and glossy accents to enhance those eyes!

Lots of eyes on this  Stampin Up image, coloured with Copics, some Google eyes added and a doodled border.
I couldn't resist this little kitty when I found him as a freebie over at Opal Manor.  Those eyes just drew me in, it's such a cute image. So I printed him onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock and coloured him in with FlexMarkers.  The sentiment from Mama Elephant was then stamped alongside and that was it, finished.
Here is a little cutie from Mama Elephant.
I masked off a strip using Post it notes and stamped the little dog within it. I then masked the pup and inked over the strip with ink duster brushes using Distress Inks. I coloured the image with watercolour pencils blending with a water brush. I then added the SU hearts and after removing the Posts its, added the Mama Elephant sentiment.

We are looking forward to seeing your creations and do please try to visit a few of your fellow participants and the DT too... we all love comments!

Week 235 Colour

Morning Limettes! We've skipped seamlessly into another month today, which means
we're delighted to welcome back a super regular sponsor for this month!

WOW

Why not head over to their site and check out loads of goodies
not only gorgeous embossing powders but loads of yummy stash!

So the start of a new month means it's Colour week
and we've chosen Berry Shades

... and here's what the Design Team have been up to plus there's more
on our personal blogs and we always love a visit or two!

Here are two of my favourite techniques combined...emboss resist and inlaid die cuts.
Stamp from The Rubber Stamp Gallery, clear embossed and inked with Rich Razzleberry,
Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick, Festive Berries and Ripe Persimmon inks
using sponge daubers, over stamped with the teazel image and some grunge dots
in Aged Mahogany ink. Dies from MFT (scalloped edge) and Poppy Stamps (thank you).

Winnie & Walter: Multi Facetted stamped with Versamark then heat embossed using
Hero Arts white embossing powder before inking and blending with distress inks;
Spun sugar, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Festive Berries and Seedless Preserves.
The sentiments are from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut birthday set
with Doodlebug sequins to accent.

Lots of texture in this card, it uses linen texture cardstock.
Inked some MFT splatters over it, then  I cut out the centre rectangle
with a stitched die and then the Happy word, which I raised up
with several extra die cuts.

On a panel of white cardstock I stamped the balloon from Wplus9 Whole Lotta Happy in three different colours and then masked off one of them before
stamping the strings.  I stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted
on a strip of white cardstock and heat embossed this with clear powder.
The white strip was matted on a strip of dark purple cardstock before
adhering to the panel, and the panel was then adhered to the base
on 3D foam strips.  I love this perfectly round balloon stamp and
in these colours they really remind me of little cranberries and blueberries!

Hopefully we've inspired you to get crafty or maybe you need to dash out to the market
first to stock up on some scrumptious seasonal berries! Either way we can't wait
to see what fabulous creations you inspire us with this week.

Thanks as always for playing along and please try to visit a few of
your fellow Limettes to leave some friendly feedback.
